Question 1

Getting started with RedactifyAI

Accepted Answer

Getting started takes less than two minutes. Sign up for a free account at redactifyai.com, no credit card required. Once logged in, create a project and upload your document. RedactifyAI supports PDF, Word (DOCX, DOC), and image files (TIFF, PNG, JPG). After upload, the AI automatically scans your document and highlights detected sensitive information such as names, addresses, Social Security Numbers, phone numbers, email addresses, and more. Review the detections on the interactive editor, add or remove redactions manually using the custom draw tool, and click Finalize to apply permanent redactions. Download your redacted document immediately. Documents are deleted automatically when their retention period ends: 30 days after upload by default, or 1 hour after the first download if you choose that. For step-by-step guidance, visit the Support page at redactifyai.com/support or contact admin@redactifyai.com.

Question 2

What's included in the free plan?

Accepted Answer

The free plan lets you evaluate RedactifyAI with no commitment and no credit card required. It includes 50 pages of document processing per month across up to 5 projects. All core features are available: AI-powered detection of PII and sensitive data, manual review and editing of detections, the custom draw tool for manual redaction boxes, and download of the final redacted document. On the free plan, documents are deleted 30 days after upload, or 1 hour after the first download if you choose that. The free plan does not include team collaboration, longer document retention, priority support, or Clio Manage integration. Those are available on paid plans. See the Pricing page at redactifyai.com/pricing for a full comparison of Free, Starter, Pro, and Business plans including page limits, seat options, and billing cycles.

Question 3

How do I upload documents?

Accepted Answer

Click the Upload button in your project, or drag and drop your file into the upload area. You can upload a single file or select up to 50 files at once. Supported formats are PDF, Word (DOCX and DOC), and image files including TIFF, PNG, and JPG. OCR is applied automatically for scanned documents. Processing typically completes within seconds to a few minutes. Once processed, documents open in the interactive editor for review.

Question 4

Can I upload and redact multiple files at once?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Select up to 50 files from your device or import them from a Clio matter. RedactifyAI processes all of them in parallel. A document switcher lets you move between files during review. Confirm and download the full set when you are done.

Question 5

What file formats are supported?

Accepted Answer

RedactifyAI supports the file formats most commonly used in legal, healthcare, and business workflows. PDF is the primary supported format, including both native text PDFs and scanned image-based PDFs. OCR is applied automatically when needed. Microsoft Word documents in DOCX and DOC formats are fully supported, preserving document structure through the redaction process. Image formats supported include TIFF, PNG, and JPG, which covers most scanned document workflows. All supported formats go through the same AI-powered detection pipeline for names, email addresses, phone numbers, Social Security Numbers, credit card numbers, physical addresses, dates of birth, and custom-defined terms. After redaction, documents are exported as PDF regardless of the original input format. See the Features page at redactifyai.com/features for more details on OCR capabilities and processing limits per plan.

Question 6

How accurate is RedactifyAI's detection?

Accepted Answer

RedactifyAI's detection models are trained on a large and diverse corpus of legal, healthcare, and business documents and are designed to achieve high accuracy across a wide range of PII types, including names, addresses, phone numbers, Social Security Numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, credit card numbers, and custom terms. The system is designed to minimize both false negatives (missed redactions) and false positives (over-redaction). However, no automated system is perfect, which is why RedactifyAI is built as a human-in-the-loop tool: every detection is surfaced for your review before redactions are finalized. You can add missed items manually using the custom draw tool and remove any incorrect detections. Final redactions are permanent only after you explicitly confirm them. See the Features page at redactifyai.com/features for more on the detection pipeline.

Question 7

What types of sensitive information can be detected?

Accepted Answer

RedactifyAI automatically detects a comprehensive range of personally identifiable information (PII) and sensitive data. Standard detected categories include full names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, Social Security Numbers (SSNs), Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs), credit card and financial account numbers, dates of birth, passport and driver's license numbers, medical record numbers, and IP addresses. The system also detects confidential markers such as attorney-client privilege labels in legal documents. In addition to AI-powered automatic detection, you can draw custom redaction boxes over any region of a document to manually redact information outside standard categories , such as case numbers, proprietary business information, or jurisdiction-specific identifiers. For a complete list of detection categories and custom redaction options, see the Features page at redactifyai.com/features.

Question 8

What are redaction templates and how do I use them?

Accepted Answer

A redaction template saves the categories you chose to redact on one document so you can reuse them on every document like it. Most firms redact the same things over and over: SSNs and client names on employment files, financial account numbers on court filings. Set that up once and every later upload arrives with those choices already made. Templates also remember partial redaction settings, so if you keep the last four digits of account numbers for FRCP 5.2 compliance, the template keeps that too. Create one by reviewing a document, ticking the categories you want, and clicking Save beside the template dropdown. You can apply a template when you upload, switch templates during review, or set one as the workspace default so every new upload starts with it. A template only preselects categories; it never confirms a redaction. You still review the detections and press Confirm, and the audit trail records which template was used and whether you changed the selection afterwards. Free and Starter plans include one saved template; Pro, Business, and Enterprise are unlimited. Full walkthrough at redactifyai.com/support/redaction-templates-guide.

Question 9

What is side-by-side version comparison?

Accepted Answer

Side-by-side version comparison lets you open any two redaction versions of the same document next to each other. This helps catch redactions that were accidentally removed between passes, for example when a first pass redacts PII and a second pass adds privilege redactions. Supervising attorneys can also use it to review associate work before production.

Question 10

How secure is my data?

Accepted Answer

Security is built into every layer of RedactifyAI. All documents are encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest using AES-256 in AWS infrastructure. Data is processed and stored exclusively in AWS cloud infrastructure in the United States. RedactifyAI does not sell, share, or use your documents to train AI models. Every document is deleted automatically when its retention period ends. The free plan keeps documents for 30 days, or deletes them 1 hour after the first download if you choose that. On paid plans, you control how long documents are retained and can delete them at any time from your workspace. You maintain full control over the redaction process. No redaction is applied permanently until you explicitly confirm it. Access is protected by password authentication and optional Google OAuth sign-in. For enterprise security requirements or compliance questions, contact admin@redactifyai.com or visit redactifyai.com/support.

Question 11

Where is my data stored and how long do you keep it?

Accepted Answer

Your documents are processed and stored exclusively in secure AWS cloud infrastructure based in the United States. RedactifyAI does not transfer data internationally or use third-party processing services for document content. Data retention depends on your plan: on the free plan, documents are deleted 30 days after upload, or 1 hour after the first download if you choose that. On Starter and higher plans, you can also keep documents for 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or until you delete them, set in Settings, and you can delete individual documents or entire projects at any time. When you cancel a subscription, stored documents are deleted according to our data retention policy at the end of your billing period. RedactifyAI does not sell your data or share it with third parties. See the Privacy Policy at redactifyai.com/privacy-policy for full details on data handling and your rights.
