What is AI redaction software?

Why generic PDF tools are not enough
Most redaction done today uses Adobe Acrobat's built-in tools or free PDF editors. These tools let you draw black boxes over text, but they have serious limitations for legal work:
- Manual detection only. You have to find every piece of sensitive data yourself. On a long document, human reviewers miss 15 to 20 percent of PII.
- Visual-only masking risk. Some tools overlay black boxes without actually removing the text from the file. The data can be extracted by copying, searching, or opening the file in a text editor.
